Sir Scorpion

Knight, Chancellor, Chieftain, Navigator and fighter for Freedom

7-6-2007

Sir. Scorpion was born a barbarian approxamently thirty years ago. Some extraordinary events lead to him being knighted by the throne of Moralltach. He has ruled the moralltach province of Shekelesh in 999, and has been made Navigator for the prime element Air in 1003. His life story is written down in fragmented scrolls to be found in the kings library of Moralltachs prime castle; Lendra.

Physical description

Sir. Scorpion is a man of 1.85 m long, who used to wear silver reinforced leather armor with black and silver accents. The broad shoulderpieces supported a wide black cape with the moralltach crest in silver atop it. Arm and leg protections with silver reinforcements finished his black & white appearance, he'd refer to as a reflection of his diety - Urza | azrU.

The man himself has dark, long hair and dark eyes. On his forehead an elemental stone of Air reminds all of his function as Navigator for Air, a function he has recieved for life and brings with it an extraordinary connection to this prime element.

Since moots I of 1007 the navigator of Air changed dramatically in a ritual to strengthen pegasus' bonds with the element. The elemental stone has expanded to cover almost the entire height of his forehead, and veins apparently filled with the elemental matter spread out over his face, now and then exposing more parts of the huge stone that has found its way through the navigators body. The navigator now and then disappears into thin air, only to reappear later on. Although the meaning of this is not yet clear the invisibility seems different then the regular ability available to only the most cunning mages of Air.

His history:Origin

Scorpion was born approxamently 25 to 30 years ago. His actual age is uncertain. He was born in a land far from our known kingdom, a land where barbarians hunt the woods and plains for survival, and lead a nomadic existence. Tribes of barbarians rival eachother, and the situation is tense between the tribes, if no common foe is there to divert their attention to eachother. Fighting for their existence, fighting eachother and any orcs they might encounter, Scorpion's first years were tough and challenging.

Making it into his teens, the young Scorpion was send out to hunt with his Brother Darco, in a new forest they just entered. The food was needed badly, and a new camp was being made by the tribe under command of Scorpion's father, who was their chieftain. The hunt went well as the brothers quickly spotted a large deer. After killing it, Darco returned the animal to the tribe while Scorpion went on seeking more quarry. What happened thereafter was only brought to light some years ago.

Scorpion disappeared from the forest. He had wandered into an invisible portal of magical origin. Approxamently 16 years of age, the young barbarian had strayed into a new land without knowing it. All he could remember is the world seemed to shift around him. The sky turned clear in an instant, and the trees seemed different afterwards. The deer he was chasing had vanished, something unpresedented to the youngster who had been trained so well to track the silent and shy animals of the wild.

Not realising what had happened, Scorpion strayed on. After realising the chased animal was really one, he set on to get back. After some miles he realised he should have already been in the open plains, but he was not. Wandering off more, he crossed a path and travelled along with it hoping it would take him back.

There he witnessed a man bathing in a small pond. Realising his barbarian cloathing could cause problems with kingdom folk, and the fact he had always been sneeringly called "outlander" by his own tribesmen if he did something they didn;t like, the young scorpion stole the cloathes he fitted in nicely as it seemed, and went down the path to find an answer to where he was. The only things he kept were his amulet, his knife and his bow.

It was there he wandered across a small inn populary known as  Ycarus' inn where he learned he was in the middle of a vast kingdom of men. The Zhon forests, in the province led by the noble house of Drenai.

Enter Moralltach.

Realising he could not go back, and only barely understanding the people around him, Scorpion relied on his abilities of the hunt to survive. Through his head flashes of memory of what his father had told him helped him make a crucial decision of his life.

A kingdom, his father had told, was like a pride, with more ranks and standards. A kingdom existed at the far edges of their tribes territory. The structure was tight, and it had an army that, when seen, had to be avoided at all costs. Confrontation would, his father said, be lethal. They'd be captured, and conscipted.

Spending many nights on his own in the forest, Scorpion felt uneasy. The forest seemed to have a dark hisory at it's heart, and he stayed at the rim. Looking out over the plains he dared not to enter, he saw a city in the distance. Admirable it seemed with it's large towers, splendourous white and towering defences.

Knowing he could not survive on his own too long, Scorpion decided for a strategy of survival. He joined the army he was warned for by his father so badly, but only because his skills fitted up nicely to the requirements and the payment in local currency was, as posters warned him, very good. His origins made his skills far better then the ordinary peasant who joined the army, and scorpion was a favorite legion for his superiors who often gained special quests. Scorpion learned the language of Moralltach in the army, but not on time to tell them his real name. Instead, scorpion was named this way because of a scorpion's tail tattoo on his left shoulder, the symbol of his tribe of old.

Career

Already familiar with blade and bow, Scorpion was trained in the usage of the sword by the finest heartmasters in the army. Despite his recognitions and promotion to talon leader, the young scorpion was emotionally a wreck by the loss of his family and homeland. Angry at the situation, he banished all thoughts of history and worked manically on his career. The only hint to his history remained in his tribe tattoo and an amulet he had on since that faithful day. An amulet now rumoured barbarians wear to keep control over their rage.

The weeks passed on, and steadily but rapidly he made his way through the army ranks, untill he ended up as a Captain at the capital of the house of Nadir, Waleph.

There he stayed, loner to most. He was always in function spare when he slept, and didn't have any friends. Astonishing his superiors with his dedication, the young Scorpion, aged about 20 now, was a most trusted captain to the Nadir nobles.

Then however, an oppertunity came for the young Scorpion to show what he was capable of, despite the fact he didn't realise it himself back then.

The war of Nadir on the barbarian tribes on the west side of the Moralltach mountains had been a unsetteling thing for the young barbarian. He did feel faintly aquinted to them, although news of horrific scenes the barbarians left in villages at the border did make Scorpion angry. The raids of the barbarians were retaliated upon by nadir with increasing ferocity.

The War with the West

That year however, the barbarians made a major move against the Kingdom of Moralltach as a whole, trying to reach it capital Aramon. They marched through nadir leaving many dead and captured. The Throne at Lendra, a castle already legendary so shortly after it's completion, ordered the enemy force to be destroyed.

The house of Nadir send their entire army to deal with the Throne's demands. The young captain of Waleph was to lead the northern nadir army into intercepting the barbarians on a location already known to him...Zhon forest.

The army of Nadir closed off the back of the barbarian army, while the Drenai and other forces of Moralltach came from the other sides, utterly destroying the invaders in the Zhon region. Shortly after, Scorpion got to lead a force to conquer parts of the now unprotected barbarian lands to the west behind the mountains of Moralltach. They are occupied still.

This endeavour however would be his last. The captain of Waleph was recommended to the Throne, led by King Rangata and Queen Lady-Anna at that time, for his services. They promoted him to Chieftain of the recruit department of Moralltach, the Azeroth's gate. This ended his career for Nadir, and marks the begin of Scorpion's ascend through bureaucracy.

Code and Law

Soon after being promoted to Chieftain of the Azeroth's gate, the now Chieftain Scorpion worked manically on reforms. He contacted many of his old companions from the wars against the barbarians to come and heartmaster the recruits of new in dealing with weapons, leading talons and dans, strategy and the Chain of command.

The wars however damaged infrastructure and another threatning war with the lands of Daoine Sidhe was feared. The King went missing, and the Queen had serious problems with the leadership of the Daoine Sidhe and The White Marten alliement group. After a year of problems in the highest ranks of the Kingdom, the King and Queen were succeeded by the Chieftain of Drenai, Thyrsa.

During the succeeding of the Throne, the province of shekelesh also lost it's leadership. Scorpion asked to be transferred to this province, also known as the Royal Province. The new throne readily accepted his request, and Scorpion went to Ralum, Shekelesh' capital, to start his new reign.

Now chieftain of the Royal house, Scorpion grew out to be the right hand of the King in many occasions. He helped to form the council of Moralltach, and became it's first Chancellor. Not without influence in his old department of Azeroth's gate, he has been seen aiding in several occasions.

King Thyrsa married Lady~Svava before the eyes of the kingdom a half year after Scorpion obtained the rule over Shekelesh. Now serving the Throne as Chancellor, Scorpion worked as hard as ever. His rule over his province has been described as hard but soft at the same time. The chieftain was called obsessed by the laws, constantly working on them in the Council and proposing changed to the Throne. Anyone not holding up the laws would find himself imprisoned before long, as the control over the larger cities grew and crime was almost completely exiled.

Changing caracter

The Chancellor was not without criticism. The queen of old Lady-Anna and ex-chieftain of the Kilyana~Mitra said he made his own ranks and laws to follow. There was a Kilyana~Mitra search for the origins of the Chieftain, but the results remained secret only to be revealed after the first portals were discovered. The chancellor himself though made laws in amendement with the Council and with approval of the supreme leading Throne.

Drowning the pain of his family loss so long ago, Scorpion had closed off his feelings and lived by the laws for several years. He must have been so untill some years ago, when some people first began to call him friend.

Vortex: The Portals

After several years in office, news reached the kings council about magical doorways that would have appeared in the Zhon region. Rumours had it the portals lead to another world. Scorpion instantly realised these portals could be the answer to his history and coming to moralltach, and he persuaded the council to let him investigate the matter personally.

Entering the portals with several Kilyana~Mitra, the special guard of the Throne, Scorpion uncovered the connection to the Vortex. He learned about the elements of Fire, Earth, Water and Air that reigned on the plane that was called the centre of the multiverse. Alarmed about the fact this world was just one magical portal away of some of Moralltachs important cities, Scorpion alerted the Council and opted for a long term mission to see if something could be done to ensure no evil intended would reach the kingdom. Scorpion joined the faction of Air for it's ideals were as his own, and started gathering information about the new world.

After several years in which various charismatic persons of Moralltach came to the Vortex, and the oppertunity presented itself to become Navigator of the element of Air. Still highly interested in the portals that so changed his life, Scorpion accepted to serve the element of Air. This decision would ultimately change his life.

In 1003 the faction of Air was thrown into turmoil when champion Mer Sephalion died, sending Gale into the Void. Difficult times insued in which the survival of Airs faction of Pegasus itself was questionable. When Tempest and Gale fought over championship of Pegasus, the navigator changed his priorities to Pegasus and helping Air.

A bond with air

The moots II of 1006, Scorpion was elected Head Navigator of the Vortex. Many of his colleagues had died since his nomination in 1003, and Scorpion was the most experienced man available for this important rank. Content with his appointment but still frowning upon the turmoil within his faction and element, Scorpion made clear his intention to hold a ritual of significant strength to better the bond of Air with its faction.

During this Ritual, which went different then forseen, the chancellor changed as the prime element of Air came close to him. Scorpion disappeared, dissolving into thin air, not to appear again for hours. When he returned, the stone in his forehead was quadrupled in size, and white veins crossed his face. Part of his hair has gone white and at some times he'd just dissolve from sight.

No longer willing to carry armor or swords, the "tools of earth" as he calls them, Scorpion has made clear his intend to make the rank of Navigator strong as it was before the death of his predecessor...
